As the world’s population grows, electricity needs will grow as well. Small modular reactors (SMRs) and advanced reactors (ARs) are uniquely positioned to meet “clean growth” needs. Partner Glenn George presented by video at the conference “Applications for SMRs and Advanced Reactors to Promote Clean Growth,” which was held in Abu Dhabi. Dr. George spoke on the topic “SMR/AR Economics: Can SMRs/ARs Compete in Today’s Energy Markets?” Other topics included challenges and opportunities for the emerging SMR/AR industry, licensing and regulation of SMRs/ARs, and deployment models and financing for SMRs/ARs.
