At the 2024 Qui Tam Conference, Partner Kathleen Chandler will join professionals in exploring the fundamental role that the government plays in all False Claims Act (FCA) qui tam cases, from the initial relator interview through the government’s investigation and intervention decision, to litigation, trial, and appeals. Ms. Chandler will speak on the panel “Resolving FCA Cases: Determining FCA Damages.” She will discuss economic frameworks that she has used to estimate FCA damages (or the lack thereof) in both expert and consulting capacities (the latter during settlement negotiations, for example).
Maurice Bellan of Baker & McKenzie will moderate the panel, with Susan Gouinlock of Wilbanks & Gouinlock and Ben Wei from the Fraud Section of the US Department of Justice as panelists.
