E.CA Economics has announced that Dr. Vincent Verouden joined their Brussels office as a director. Dr. Verouden is the former Deputy Chief Economist at DG Competition at the European Commission, where he was involved in the review of major mergers investigations in a variety of sectors. He also contributed to the development of the 2004 EU Horizontal Merger Guidelines and was one of the authors of the 2008 Non-Horizontal Merger Guidelines.
Dr. Verouden joined DG Competition in 2000 and worked in the Commission’s Merger Task Force until 2004, when he joined the Chief Economist Team. He was appointed Deputy Chief Economist in 2012. His antitrust work has focused on the pharmaceutical sector, and he has worked extensively on issues related to State aid control.
