WASHINGTON, DC—Bates White is pleased to announce the promotion of three principals to partner. The following individuals have been elected to the firm’s partnership: Brian McClelland, Ben Scher, and Scott Weishaar.

Brian McClelland works directly with clients on settlement negotiation and complex litigation matters. He has managed multiple project teams to provide economic analyses, data mining, database development and management, discovery support, and research for numerous client engagements. Mr. McClelland has assisted leading law firms and Fortune 500 clients in a variety of industries including agriculture, chemicals, computer technology, pulp and paper, and pharmaceuticals.
Ben Scher has extensive experience leading teams that analyze large data sets, performing economic analysis and research, serving as lead consulting expert through all phases of litigation, and supporting testifying experts in litigation matters. Mr. Scher’s work has focused extensively on the healthcare and life sciences sectors. Recently, he has served as lead consulting expert for drug manufacturers, medical device manufacturers, and healthcare providers on several major engagements—both litigation and government investigations—involving alleged False Claims Act violations.
Scott Weishaar provides consulting expertise and expert support in complex litigation and government investigations for pharmaceutical manufacturers and wholesalers, pharmacies, healthcare providers, and other life sciences industry participants. These cases often involve economic analysis of class certification, liability, and damages related to federal and state false claims acts, fraud, and antitrust issues. Mr. Weishaar collaborates with clients to support discovery efforts, provide insights into industry dynamics, manage analysis of large data, and contribute to case strategy.
