Bates White’s Summer Consultant Program has been named #9 among consulting firms’ programs by Vault. It was also ranked in the top 50 internship programs across all industries.
These rankings are based on Vault’s survey of more than 11,000 interns in over 100 internship programs. Interns from Bates White’s 2016 summer program responded to the survey, which sought feedback on a number of categories ranging from overall quality of life to career development. Bates White ranked #3 in career development; of a possible score of 10, Bates White received an average rating of 9.7.
Bates White interns indicated that the most important factors in an internship were the corporate culture and the relevance of the work to their academic focus. Prestige of the program/firm also rated high on their decision-making criteria.
In line with those results, one former intern noted, “Bates White’s culture is incredible. The firm is tight-knit and lives up to the claims of a flat hierarchy.… It wasn’t uncommon for a partner to strike up a conversation with me in the hallway.” Another said, “All of the opportunities I was given were amazing. I not only got to work on real case work and help out with an actual report, I was given training in valuable skills and had the opportunity to work through a case from beginning to end, as if I was a full-time consultant.”
Bates White’s Summer Consultant Program lasts 10 weeks. It offers extensive training, quantitative and qualitative client work, mentoring by senior leadership, social events, and opportunities to organize a community service project. “We strive to provide a positive and meaningful experience for our Summer Consultants,” said Charlie Mullin, Bates White Managing Partner. “The program allows participants to understand our business, gain valuable skills, and experience firsthand the essence of a career in economic consulting.”
