Vault, a leading Career Intelligence platform, provides information to help professionals in the consulting, law, banking, and accounting industries manage their career growth and conduct research on potential employers. The 2024 rankings of consulting firms are based on a survey of consultants who answered weighted questions related to firm culture, compensation, work-life balance, overall business outlook, and more.
This year, Bates White was among the top 25 firms in all 12 of the categories Vault measures, ranking particularly highly for overall business outlook (#6), informal training and mentoring efforts (#10), best compensation (#11), and best benefits (#11).
When completing the survey, Bates White employees consistently cited the firm's culture and work-life balance. One stated that Bates White is a "fantastic place to start your career," praising the "[i]nteresting analytical work with bright people and outstanding mentorship. " Another commented, "If you want a good work-life balance while learning cutting edge economic and data concepts working in complex legal industry cases, this is the right place for you."
Survey respondents also spoke highly of the firm's dedication to its employees' career development. One consultant said, "The firm does not require its employees to have a background knowledge in any specific topic, but rather gives trainings and extensive mentor support on any skill an employee might need on their work. This creates a uniform opportunity for people with different backgrounds to develop and advance in their careers." Another agreed: "Our onboarding and mentoring programs for employees in their first several years are wonderful. The experienced staff who serve as sponsors are dedicated, thoughtful, and helpful and are able to train new colleagues into very successful consultants and economists."
"The fact that we're ranked 16th is a testament to our firm's commitment to listening to employee feedback on how we can provide the best possible work experience and acting on that feedback," said Bates White Managing Partner Scott Weishaar. "In 2023, we introduced a ‘Snack & Chat’ program which features a new diversity-related topic each month and launched BWProud, which represents the interests and needs of LGBTQ+ employees, allies, and supporters," he added.
Bates White's Summer Consultant Program has also received top recognition from Vault. In 2023, the firm’s program ranked as the #1 internship for consulting firms and the #13 internship program across firms in all industries.
