Bates White has been named one of The Washington Post’s 2024 Top Workplaces in the Washington, DC area—the ninth consecutive year the firm has been recognized. The firm is ranked #14 on the list of mid-sized companies for the second year in a row.
Managing Partner Scott Weishaar expressed, “Being recognized once again as one of the top workplaces in DC is an exciting and proud moment for us, especially because it's based on our employees' feedback. This award reaffirms that we are successfully making Bates White a place where colleagues feel challenged, rewarded, and celebrated.”
Selection is based solely on employee feedback gathered through an anonymous third-party survey administered by research partner Energage, LLC, which measured several aspects of workplace culture, including alignment, execution, and connection. More than 8,800 area companies were invited to participate and 421 were surveyed. The honorees were selected based on survey responses from more than 137,000 employees on criteria ranging from employee development to innovation.
In completing the survey for 2024, many Bates White employees mentioned the firm’s engaging culture, collegial atmosphere, development opportunities, interesting work, and career mentorship and support. One survey respondent praised the value of Bates White's community, saying, “The people are amazing to learn from and work with!” Another expressed appreciation for the firm's supportive leadership, stating, "They care about your individual growth and development whether you stay at the firm or decide to explore external opportunities.” A third emphasized the firm's focus on mentorship and training, commenting, “Whether you are just starting as a consultant, or have progressed to becoming a partner, all employees take a keen interest in developing their peers and spreading their knowledge. This is a workplace [where] you will consistently be challenged and grow.”
Bates White has also been highly ranked as an employer by career resource platforms like Vault and Management Consulted. Vault consistently recognizes the firm as a top 50 overall consulting firm, economic consulting firm, and boutique consulting firm. In addition, in 2023 Vault named Bates White’s Summer Consultant Program the #1 consulting firm internship for the fourth time. Earlier this year, the firm was also named on Management Consulted’s list of top consulting firms for the second consecutive year—just one of four firms in the economics and litigation consulting category.
