Data conversion process and analysis help quantify effects of conduct
In a contractual dispute between a hospital and a vendor, Ben Scher was retained to automate a process to create a database from unstructured information. Wrote algorithms to convert thousands of pages of qualitative information and data contained in PDF documents into a machine-readable database that allowed reliable and accurate quantification of the effects of the alleged conduct. Performed several analyses that shed light on the key allegations in the matter and ultimately supported a settlement. Prior to settlement, Mr. Scher wrote an expert report summarizing the algorithms, the database creation, and the findings, and he prepared to testify at trial.
